Tarkett AB was founded in Sweden in 1886 and was soon recognized for its high quality flooring products. Harris Hardwood Company, Inc. was founded in the United States twelve years later. Eventually, Harris and Tarkett merged and for more than a century the company's complex history evolved through a series of mergers and acquisitions, ultimately operating under the current corporate brand, Tarkett. The Tarkett Group operates 26 production facilities in ten countries and has an overall presence in more than 50 countries. Their product lines are as diverse as their history and include textile, resilient and hardwood flooring products. The hardwood flooring lines alone cover solid, engineered and longstrip constructions, with two collections of solid, eleven collections of engineered and four collections of longstrip in a wide variety of popular species.
